I am excited today
First let me thank dear friend Anu Sriram. She has motivated me to participate in the paper crafts event conducted by Shama.

Participation is always fun. So here I present my paper crafts. The first one is made using a magazine. I was very much interested in the paper wall hanging posted at Craftstylish, that I tried the same.

My mom often prepares Payatham paruppu (aka pasi paruppu) payasam. I love this kheer and I have this as a side dish for chapattis
Heard Moong dal kheer is very famous in Kerala! Here is my version of Payatham paruppu payasam.

Payatham paruppu payasam | Moong Dal Kheer
Ingredients:
Payatham paruppu (Moong Dal): 1 cup
Jaggery: 1 cup
Milk: 1 cup
Cardamom powder: a pinch
Cashews and Raisins: few
Ghee: 2 tsps
Preparation Method:
- Shallow fry the dal for few mins till it turns slight brownish in color.
- Pressure cook the dal.
- Boil the milk and add the jaggery.
- Keep stirring till the jaggery completely dissolves.
- Now add the cardamom powder and the cooked dal.
- Allow it to cook for 2-3 mins and remove it from the stove.
- Heat ghee and fry the cashews and raisins.
- Add it to the kheer.
- Serve the kheer hot or cold.
Tips:
- Frying the dal is not mandatory. You can also start from step 2.
- I have prepared the kheer with and without frying the dal, either way the payatham paruppu payasam tastes yummy

Spring is here! Winter has finally ended. Climate is slowly improving and we can smell the freshness everywhere. Day light saving time has blessed us with lengthy days. Ah! an end to the gloomy long winter nights! Here I share with you few spring quotes that I enjoyed reading (Source: quotegarden.com)
- Spring is nature’s way of saying, Let’s party! ~ Robin Williams.
- No matter how long the winter, spring is sure to follow!
- If we had no winter, the spring would not be so pleasant; if we did not sometimes taste of adversity, prosperity would not be so welcome. ~Anne Bradstreet
Here is my second quilling artwork. Lord Ganesha is my fav! I was very much impressed by Reshmi’s awesome quilling designs. This is the quilling ganesha that I tried from Reshmi’s blog.

Kadalai paruppu chutney is yet another jiffy cooking dish. Unlike other chutneys this one can be had with rice too. I usually prepare this chutney without adding too much water (bit thick). It tastes heavenly when it is taken with hot rice and nalla ennai (Gingelly oil).

Ingredients to prepare Kadalai paruppu chutney

Kadalai paruppu chutney
Ingredients:
Kadalai paruppu (Bengal gram): 1 cup
Ginger: small piece
Coriander leaves: few
Red chilies: 3
Salt: to taste
Tamarind: a pinch
Coconut: as per taste
Asafetida: a pinch
Preparation Method:
- Heat little oil and roast the kadalai paruppu and red chilies.
- Add asafetida to it.
- Allow the mixture to cool.
- Add coconut, coriander leaves, salt, ginger and tamarind to the mixture.
- Add little water and grind it.
- Serve with hot rice, idly, dosa or chappathi.
Tips:
- You can also add garlic to the recipe.
- Green chilies can be used instead of red chilies. Both ways the chutney tastes yummy.

Wheat Dosa | Godumai dosa is one of the jiffy cooking recipes. I call this recipe as rava dosa’s sister (lol). Yup both rava dosa and wheat dosa does not require time for fermentation. Here is the wheat dosa recipe.

Wheat Dosa or Godumai Dosai
Ingredients:
Wheat flour: 1 cup
Water: 2 ½ cups
Salt: to taste
Red chilies: 2 (chopped)
Preparation Method:
- Mix the wheat flour, salt and water.
- Make a thin batter without any lumps.
- Heat the oil and do seasoning with mustard, cumin seeds, red chilies and curry leaves and add it to the batter.
- Allow the batter to settle for few mins and then start making dosas.
- Serve hot.
Tips and tricks:
- You can add 2 tbsps of rice flour to the batter. This will increase the crispness of the wheat dosas.
- Onions can be added to the flour just incase u like onion wheat dosa
- I have added red chilies; the dosa tastes yummy even with green chilies.
- This recipe doesn’t require any side dish. Depending on the taste you can serve hot wheat dosas with chutney or sambar.
